Day 3:
Today was another hot day in Japan. Rob is getting sick, and all of our schedules are still so off. We all wake up between 4 and 5 am, so by 3:30 in the afternoon, everyone is super cranky! We had to get out to go get cell phones. There is only one carrier here, and they rip you off big time! There are all of these rules...you can only call people with the same carrier for free before 9:00 pm. After that it costs you money. It also costs you extra to call anyone that has a different provider or to call any landlines. So basically, our cell phones are for Rob and I to call one another and to text. Lol. They are not cheap either. We pay for two phones what we paid for three phones in the states. On well....I feel better having a phone in case someone does need to reach me for an emergency. Oh, I almost forgot to mention. I got excited when the lady told us we got a free gift with our cell phones. She pulled out two boxes of curry rice. I could barely keep a straight face.
After getting our phones, we went to the food court. They have a Subway, Burger King, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, and a Chinese/Japanese food place in there. Rob and I wanted Chinese food. He asked them for an egg roll, and they looked at him like he was crazy. Lol. They gave us two little things that tasted somewhat like an egg roll.....guess that is not what they are called here. Who knew?!
We then hiked back to our rooms in this scorching heat. A lady driving by stopped and asked if we were new here. Yes, we responded and it is so hot. She said I figured you were because you are walking. It is a great bonding experience. Welcome to Iwakuni! Thanks, lady! I thought she was going to offer us a ride! :(
Well, I'm sad to report that I still want to go home, and I really want to hear my mom's voice! So, Mom, if you are reading this....can you please get an apple product ASAP so we can FaceTime! Praying for a better tomorrow!
